Surly for Africa : Surly Long Haul Trucker ready for West Africa!

After a few changes my "Commuter Surly" has become "Expedition Surly"; ready for my 6 week bike trip to Mali and Burkina Faso. I put on fatter tires, a sprung saddle, a kickstand, and removed the fenders since I'll be traveling during the dry season. Last minute decisions to make are whether to go with pedals that have a platform on one side and spd clip on the other; and to find out the kickstand holds the bike when fully loaded.

Weekend Bike Tour for My Birthday (Sep 2008) : Sep 20-21, 2008. For my birthday I wanted to do a bike trip. I dropped Becca off at Mtn Lake then drove to her parents to leave my car and our dog Rita. I biked the 7 miles back up to mtn lake while going up in elevation 2,000ft. Becca and I then biked 11 miles on gravel roads to our campsite. The following day we biked 30 miles back to her parents house.
